Baterías, Castillos, Torres y otras tantas construcciones similares estan repartidos por toda la comunidad
de Galicia, al noroeste de España.
Los hay que tenido la suerte de llegar a nuestros días en un buen estado de conservación...
Los hay que han sido adquiridos por particulares y convertidos en residencias veraniegas...
Los hay que han sido restaurados por Escuelas Taller o han recibido alguna subvención para su reconstrucción
pero...
La GRAN MAYORÍA se encuentran abandonados, olvidados, cubiertos de densa vegetación o incluso a punto de
desaparecer.
Hay una cantidad de construcciones que, a pesar de estar en ruinas, figuran en muchos libros como desaparecidos:
el Castillo de Valparaíso, la Batería de Mera, los Castillos de Fontán y Corbeiroá, el Castillo de Amorín, etc... todos ellos
figuran como parte del pasado.
He creado esta página web con la misma finalidad con la que he creado Military Ruins, dar a conocer algo de interés que parece importar muy poco a mucha gente. Sé sobradamente que faltan muchísimas construcciones, pero la falta de tiempo y, casi siempre, de buena
información para dar con ellos han sido la principal causa. A medida que vaya visitando nuevas localizaciones iré actualizando
la página.
Batteries, Castles, Towers and many other similar constructions are located all over the community of
Galicia, to the Northwest of Spain.
Some have had the luck to reach our days in a good state of conservation...
Some have been acquired by people that have converted them into summer residences...
Some have been restored by Work Schools or have received some kind of subvention for there reconstruction
but...
The GREAT MAJORITY are abandoned, forgotten, covered with dense vegetation or even about to disappear.
There's an amount of constructions that, in spite of being in ruins, appear in many books as demolished:
the Castle of Valparaíso, the Battery of Mera, the Castles of Fontán & Corbeiroá, the Castle of Amorín, etc... all of
them appear as something of the past.
I've created this site with the same purpose in which I created Military Ruins, to show something of interest that seems to concern few people.
I know in advance that there's many constructions missing, but the lack of time and, nearly always,
good information that can lead me to them have been the main cause. As I visit new locations I'll update the site.
